Private - A class in which the instructor is dedicated to teaching one individual, family, or small group of students. Private lessons are normally 30 minutes in length, but 60 minute classes are also available. Private lessons normally focus on material required to advance to the next belt ranking.
Adult - A group class in which the instructor teaches anyone over the age of 15 who wishes to participate. Classes are normally 60 minutes in duration and work on building strength, endurance, self-defense skills, and belt rank material relevant to the class participants.
Cardio - A class, open to the general public, focusing on cardio vascular and strength training using martial arts movements
Kids - A group class similar to the Adult class, but for individuals under the age of 15. The Kids classes generally deal with more age-appropriate materials.
Sparring - a full contact sparring class. You must have developed essential basic skills, received permission and have proper equipment to attend this class.
Point - This refers to "point fighting" or a form of Kumite in which fighters attempt to deliver effective strikes against their opponent to score points. The skills, timing, and goals in this type of fighting are related, but often quite different from those of full contact sparring.
Advanced - This is a class in which students learn advanced concepts, practices, skills, methods, and strategies. The class is open only to advanced students and normally requires payment of an additional fee.
Special - This class time is reserved for special classes offered to the general public. Classes include Women's Self Defense, Senior Citizen 's Instruction, Disadvantaged Instruction, Children's Self-Defense, and an Interdisciplinary Forum. The following schedule is used for these classes:
First Wednesday of each month - Women's Self Defense
Second Wednesday of each month - Interdisciplinary Forum
Third Wednesday of each month - Children's Self Defense
Fourth Wednesday of each month (if available) - Varies with need and opportunity
Inst - This time is reserved for instructor training.
Additional classes are offered from time to time to increase the breadth of training for students. We strive to be very flexible so that students can easily find convenient times to obtain relevant training.
Class schedules are subject to change.
