Women's Self-Defense
Our Women's Self Defense class offers you the opportunity to get direct hands-on practical training and achieve fundamental defensive insights that will help you be better prepared in the event you should ever need to defend yourself.
We offer Women's Self-Defense on a weekly basis and strive to address different topics, strategies, skills, and techniques in every class. This ensures you will learn something new in every class, no matter how often you may have attended in the past. Key concepts covered in these classes include (but are certainly not limited to):
Awareness Training - being aware of your situation and surroundings is the first step in effective self-defense.
Diffusing a situation - sometimes knowing what to say and how to move can help avoid an escalation.
Escaping Arts - getting away is always the best line of defense.
Movement Training - how you behave when an attack begins can have profound benefits or consequences.
Strike Training - learn the key elements and strategies for kicking and striking an attacker.
What Not to Do - sometimes knowing what not to do is as important as knowing what to do.
Attacker Weaknesses - study differing body types and the strengths and weaknesses of each.
Participants should wear loose-fitting clothing (martial arts unitform, shorts or sweat pants, t-shirts, etc.) and comfortable athletic shoes. Training is low-intensity and does not require a great amount of exertion or effort. You will have an opportunity to practice the various movements, strikes, techniques, and concepts on others to gain essential experience with each. You will try the various movements and concepts with other participants and your instructor to see how they work with a variety of different people.
