Conditioning Class

Conditioning Class

The Conditioning Class utilizes martial arts and kickboxing movements, timing, and patterns set to up tempo music that yield a highly energetic and calorie-burning cardio workout that is fun, invigorating and highly effective.  You will be trimmed, toned, and energized all while enjoying a lively session with fun and interesting people.

Who Will Benefit

Nearly anyone who is in reasonably good health can benefit from our kickboxing conditioning classes.  You are free to set a pace that fits with your current abilities and conditioning levels.  As you progress you will naturally increase the intensity of your efforts.

You do not need any equipment to participate and you do not need to be a martial arts student.  The classes are open to anyone and you will quickly pick up the movements and patterns that are key elements of this training program.

Participants should wear loose-fitting clothing (martial arts uniform, shorts, sweat pants, light shirt, etc.) and comfortable athletic shoes.  You may also wish to bring a sports drink or water and a towel.

Many of the kickboxing movements will be done with our workout bags and other equipment to add realism and resistance to your movements. Impacting a training bag enhances your motivation and yields a more dynamic, fulfilling, and challenging cardio workout.

These are not competitive workouts and you will not be asked to strike or punch anyone else.  It's a group endeavor yet a private adventure that allows you to achieve your health goals while experiencing the fun and excitement that comes from an invigorating group cardio workout.

A Typical Conditioning Class

A typical kickboxing workout begins with a warm-up session lasting from five to ten minutes. The warm-up period involves some simple stretches and movements designed to loosen up your muscles and joints and to prepare your body for a vigorous workout.

The warm-up session is followed by the main cardio workout session that is set to energetic music (typically 140 beats per minute) and lasts for approximately 40 minutes. The cardio workout session focuses on upper body workouts using punches and blocks, as well as lower body conditioning using kicks and stance work. You will also combine both kicking and punching movements to achieve the highest caloric burn rates while conditioning the upper, lower and core areas of your body.

The main cardio workout session is then followed by strength building exercises that work on arm, leg, chest, back, and abdominal strength.  This section of the class normally lasts about ten minutes and then we move into a cool down period that focuses on bringing your pulse and breathing rates down considerably before you attempt to leave the training area.  This is a relaxing and soothing time spent in simple stretches and relaxation postures designed to calm your body following an intense workout.

Our kickboxing conditioning classes are usually one hour in duration, but may last a few minutes longer on occasion.  Classes rarely last more than 70 minutes; 60 minutes is the intended norm.
