Children's Group Instruction
Children's Group instruction offers the same quality instruction from a certified instruction as offered in our Private Instruction classes, but in a group setting. Students learn exactly the same material as offered in the private instruction classes, but have the added benefit of working with various other students over time during hands-on practice of their developing martial arts skills. Children's group is appropriate for students between the ages of 5 and 15. These lessons are essentially identical to our Adult Group lessons but are tailored to meet the needs, skills, and abilities of children. Children's Group classes tend to focus a bit more on general themes such as discipline, responsibility, and respect than might be found in an Adult Group class.
Children's Group students receive the following benefits:
Group instruction with a certified instructor one, two, or three times per week (see pricing below).
Unlimited Mixed Group class attendance (no additional charge)
Unlimited Kick Boxing class attendance - with instructor recommendation (no additional charge). Parental approval is required for these classes - we are not interested in forcing or coercing children to learn fightihg skills that do not interest them.
Unlimited Conditioning class attendance (no additional charge)
A focus on and continual refinement of the materials, skills, techniques, kata, and additional requirements necessary to achieve the next belt ranking.
Classes are scheduled at a time that is generally best for the majority of students.
Advantages Over Private Instruction
Children's Group lessons have the following advantages over dedicated private instruction:
Lessons are less expensive
Children will work with other students and can therefore try various skills, techniques, and movements while working with a variety of different people roughly their same size. This provides significant insight into what works well and what is likely to be unsuccessful against different types of individuals.
Children receive valuable feedback from other students during class interactions.
A social camaraderie often develops with other students in the class.
Disadvantages of Children's Group Instruction (when compared to Private Instruction)
Children's Group instruction has the following disadvantages when compared with private instruction:
Students in private instruction classes tend, on average, to advance somewhat more quickly than students in group instruction. This is a generalization and your mileage may vary. This does not mean that students in group instruction advance slowly.
Students in private lessons obviously have more direct interface time the instructor in a private lesson setting.
Pricing
Children's Group instruction is for a single student (please see Family and Friends for instruction involving groups of two or more people). Students may elect to have lessons one, two, or three times per week. All Children's Group lesson programs include group lesson(s) and unlimited access to Mixed Group, Kick Boxing (with instructor and parental approval) and Conditioning classes. Prices for Children's Group lessons are as follows:
One Children's Group lesson per week - $60.00 per month.
Two Children's Group lessons per week - $100.00 per month.
Three Children's Group lessons per week - $120.00 per month.
We do not have any long-term contracts, registration fees or other recurring costs. Your only fees are those listed above, the cost of any uniforms or equipment you require, and membership in the Sei Kosho Shorei Kai International association - currently a $29.00 annual fee. Students can defer this membership fee for some time, but must be a member of the Kai to achieve their next belt ranking
